Appointment of Advisory Panel
The South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE), the leading professional body for mechanical and mechatronic engineers in South Africa, is proud to announce the establishment of a new Advisory Board. This strategic initiative brings together accomplished experts from key sectors across the country, reflecting SAIMechE’s commitment to proactively addressing the country’s priorities and strengthening its engineering capacity.
The newly-appointed Advisory Board comprises leaders from industries critical to South Africa’s development, including energy, manufacturing, mining, infrastructure, and academia. Their collective knowledge and experience will provide strategic direction to SAIMechE, ensuring that the institution’s initiatives, research, and advocacy are closely aligned with the pressing challenges and opportunities facing the nation.

SAIMechE remains dedicated to serving its members and the broader mechanical engineering community, while promoting the sustained development of engineering talent to meet the nation’s needs. The Advisory Board will play a key role in fulfilling this mission by:
- Identifying Key National Challenges: Offering informed perspectives on critical engineering-related needs in the country, such as infrastructure development, sustainable energy solutions, advancements in manufacturing, and digital transformation.
- Strengthening Industry Collaboration: Fostering closer ties between SAIMechE and various sectors to ensure that engineering education and professional development remain relevant and future-focused.
- Informing Policy and Advocacy: Contributing expert input to guide SAIMechE’s contribution to national policy discussions related to engineering, technology, and industrial strategy.
- Championing Engineering Excellence: Promoting the role of mechanical engineering in driving competitiveness, efficiency, and innovation across South African industries
With their diverse backgrounds and broad expertise, the Advisory Board members will help ensure that SAIMechE continues to make a meaningful impact, empowering engineers and advancing the profession in line with its motto, Scientia Progredimur (“We advance by knowledge”).
